Former Dizzy Gillespie & His Orchestra members founded the Modern Jazz Quartet in the early 50's. The original lineup consisted of such musicians as vibraphonist Milt Jackson, drummer Kenny Clarke bassist Ray Brown, and pianist John Lewis. In 1952 Ray Brown left the Modern Jazz Quartet, new bassist Percy Heath replaced him. |
